How to make a before and after image slider from two photos

Step by step
- Pick your "before" photo in the first box. This is the original, untouched version.

A concrete example
Say you photographed a room before painting and again after. Both photos are 1200 × 800 pixels. The side-by-side export puts the two images next to each other at equal size, so the result is 2 × 1200 = 2400 pixels wide and 800 pixels high (plus the thin divider line). On a phone screen about 400 pixels wide, that image is shrunk to one sixth of its width (2400 ÷ 400 = 6). Each photo then appears only about 200 pixels wide. For small screens, start with a larger photo or use the slider view instead.
Tips for a comparison that reads well
- Keep the same framing. Use the same distance, angle and height. If you shoot on a phone, rest it on a shelf or mark your standing spot.
- Keep the same light. A change in daylight can look like a change in the subject.
- Use the same size and ratio. Two photos with different proportions will not line up when you drag the divider. Crop or resize them first.
- Do not over-edit the "before". It should be the real original, or the comparison loses its point.
- Put the change near the middle. The divider starts in the centre, so the key area is visible at once.
